CAC pastor arrested for allegedly raping his daughter in Ogun (photo)

44-year-old Pastor Oluwafemi Oyebola of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Ogo Oluwa parish in Ogun state, has been arrested by men of the state police command for allegedly raping his daughter on several occasions, getting her pregnant three times and forcing her to go through abortions each time.

The accused pastor was arrested following a complaint by his 24-year-old daughter. The victim had reported at the Owode-Egbado divisional headquarters that her father has been forcefully having sex with her since 2015 shortly after the demise of her mother. She told the Police that she got pregnant for her father three times but he took her to a nurse who terminated the pregnancies, each time .

She told the police that after the third pregnancy was terminated, her father did family planning for her so as not to get pregnant any longer. She got tired of his evil act and summoned the courage to report an NGO, Advocacy For Children And Vulnerable Persons Network who led her to the police station.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the pastor was immediately arrested after the case was reported at the police station.

"On interrogation, the suspect made a confessional statement that all that his daughter said was nothing but the whole truth.

#Hushpuppi: Protesters storm US Embassy, demand arrest of Atiku and Dino Melaye (Photos)

PDP chieftains Hushpuppi protest

Some Protesters on Monday took to the US Embassy, Abuja, demanding an investigation into the link between ex-Vice President,
Atiku AbubakarTimi FrankDino Melaye and some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains with Raymond Abbas Igbalode, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

The group, under the aegis of Concerned Citizens Forum (CCF), seen in their numbers held placards calling for the arrest of Atiku, Melaye and other PDP members linked to the fraudster.

Some inscriptions from the placards read: “Say No to fraud, Interpol act now”, Interpol act and arrest Dino Melaye”, “Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”, “FBI should investigate Atiku Abubakar,” amongst others.

They also submitted a letter to the US Ambassador and the Federal Bureau of Investigation calling for a thorough probe of Hushpuppi’s political allies in the PDP.

This is coming after the All Progressives Congress (APC) had alleged “criminal conspiracy linking the top PDP members to Hushpuppi.

The protesters submitted a letter signed by Comrade Adamu Kabir Matazu.

In the letter, Matazu called on the US to investigate the connection between PDP high profile Chieftains and Hushpuppi.

The group claimed that ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s frequent trips to Dubai prior to 2019 presidential elections may not be unconnected to Hushpuppi.

They asked the US to go after Atiku, Dino Melaye, Timi Frank and other PDP stalwarts who through their associations with Hushpuppi may have helped to launder the proceeds of crime.

Recall that Bukola Saraki, Atiku and Dino over the weekend had denied any connection to Hushpuppi.

Atiku described the allegations as mischievous and an attempt at political blackmail by the APC, adding that the picture with Hushpuppi was not a meeting.

US Federal prosecutors officially charge Hushpuppi for fraud. Faces 20 years in US prison

US Federal prosecutors officially charge Hushpuppi for fraud. Faces 20 years in US prison

Ramon Olorunwa Abbas a.k.a. “Ray Hushpuppi” now faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in a US federal prison after being extradited from Dubai to the United States.

In a statement released by the US Department of Justice, the suspected Nigerian fraudster was accused of conspiring to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from business email compromise (BEC) frauds and other scams, including schemes targeting a U.S. law firm, a foreign bank and an English Premier League soccer club.

Hushpuppi made his initial U.S. court appearance this morning in Chicago, and he is expected to be transferred to Los Angeles in coming weeks.

Federal prosecutors who filed a criminal complaint filed on June 25, alleged that the suspected Nigerian fraudster is "one of the leaders of a transnational network that facilitates computer intrusions, fraudulent schemes (including BEC schemes), and money laundering, targeting victims around the world in schemes designed to steal hundreds of millions of dollars".

It was also alleged that Hushpuppi finances his opulent lifestyle of designer clothes, wearing expensive watches,  posing in or with luxury cars and charter jets through crime.

The statement partly read;

"BEC schemes as often involving a computer hacker gaining unauthorized access to a business’ email account, blocking or redirecting communications to and/or from that email account, and then using the compromised email account or a separate fraudulent email account to communicate with personnel from a victim company and to attempt to trick them into making an unauthorized wire transfer.

“BEC schemes are one of the most difficult cybercrimes we encounter as they typically involve a coordinated group of con artists scattered around the world who have experience with computer hacking and exploiting the international financial system,” said United States Attorney Nick Hanna. “This case targets a key player in a large, transnational conspiracy who was living an opulent lifestyle in another country while allegedly providing safe havens for stolen money around the world. As this case demonstrates, my office will continue to hold such criminals accountable, no matter where they live.

“In 2019 alone, the FBI recorded $1.7 billion in losses by companies and individuals victimized through business email compromise scams, the type of scheme Mr. Abbas is charged with conducting from abroad.

"Technology has essentially erased geographic boundaries leaving trans-national criminal syndicates to believe that they are beyond the reach of law enforcement. The success in this case was the direct result of our trusted partnerships between the Department of Justice and our federal law enforcement colleagues. These partnerships helped dismantle a sophisticated organized crime group who preyed upon unsuspecting businesses. It is thanks to these partnerships that the American people can feel a bit more secure today.”

Hushpuppi and his suspected co-conspirators were accused of spearheading a BEC scheme that defrauded a client of a New York-based law firm out of approximately $922,857 in October 2019. Abbas and co-conspirators allegedly tricked one of the law firm’s paralegals into wiring money intended for the client’s real estate refinancing to a bank account that was controlled by them.

He was also accused of conspiring to launder funds stolen in a $14.7 million cyber-heist from a foreign financial institution in February 2019, in which the stolen money was sent to bank accounts around the world. Abbas allegedly provided a co-conspirator with two bank accounts in Europe which he expected to receive €5 million (about $5.6 million) in each.

The suspected Nigerian fraudster also allegedly conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from other fraudulent schemes and computer intrusions, including one scheme to steal £100 million (approximately $124 million) from an English Premier League soccer club, the complaint alleges.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Anil J. Antony and Joseph B. Woodring of the Cyber and Intellectual Property Crimes Section.  If convicted of conspiracy to engage in money laundering, Abbas would face a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

D'banj sues his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion

D

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D'banj, has sued his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion Naira.

In an initial lawsuit, D'banj demanded N100 million Naira from Seyitan Babatayo for "defamation of character" after she accused him of rape and demanded an apology through her lawyers.

Now, after all that has happened in recent times, D'banj, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome Chambers, has asked Ms Babatayo to pay N1.5 billion Naira.

N1 billion was demanded in damages "over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, obloguy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the Defendants' tweets and publication have caused the claimant."

N500 million was demanded as "aggravated, puniitive, and exemplary damages."

The suit also demanded that Seyitan writes D'banj "a letter of unreserved apology for the offensive tweets and posts".

D'banj's lawyers also prayed the court to grant "an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further publishing, tweeting or posting offesnive libelous statements."

Recall that a week ago, Seyitan released a statement detailing the timeline of her case with D'banj. She had initially posted a tweet denying that she was arrested on D'banj's orders. She also said she wanted to put everything behind her.

However, in the statement released afterwards, she said she was arrested and held for 24 hours after which she was released to D'banj's team who took her to an undisclosed location, denied her access to her family and lawyers, threatened her, took over control of her social media account, and coerced her to retract her statement (read here).

On Thursday, July 2, activist Segun "Segalink" Awosanya shared a thread on Twitter where he said Seyitan was not detained by D'banj's team as claimed (read here). However, today, he did a turnaround and stated that Seyitan didn't lie and that she was indeed detained but not "kidnapped" by D'banj's team as the "e-femists" claimed (read here).

Below are documents from D'banj's lawyers demanding N1.5 billion from Seyitan.

Well, on June 30, he was arraigned before Justice A.T. Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on an eight count charge bordering on conspiracy, impersonation, forgery, possession of proceeds and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of Eight Million, Five Hundred and Two Thousand Dollars ($8,502,000.00).

According to EFCC, the offence contravenes Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.

One of the counts read: "That you, Onwuzuruike Ikenna Kingsley (aka Jeff Sikora), on or about December 28, 2019, in Umuahia, Abia State, within the jurisdiction of this court, with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of $6, 500,000.00 through web transfer from one Mr. Selah Elnagar Ali Ahmed, a citizen of Egypt, with the pretence that he is a beneficiary of inheritance funds in a fixed deposit account of Prime Trust Financial Bank in United States, a pretext you knew to be false, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006, and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act."

Watford sell Pape Gueye to Marseille just 17 hours after joining them following a controversial comment he made?

Watford have sold Pape Gueye to Marseille just 17 hours after he joined them following a controversial comment he made.

Back in April, the Premier League club agreed a five-year deal for the 21-year-old French midfielder understood to be worth in the region of £45,000 a month. He was photographed holding a Watford shirt after putting pen to paper in the pre-contract agreement.

Gueye was due to officially join Watford on Wednesday, July 1, as a free agent and had been registered as their player. But he changed his mind saying he was 'badly advised' to sign for the club.

Following his controversial comment, Watford held talks with Marseille regarding a move for Pape Gueye just 17 hours after they had finalised his arrival.

The Ligue 1 side have now announced the signing of the 21-year-old midfielder on a 4-year contract.

The police in Oyo state have arrested 26-year-old Shagbada Erigga pictured above for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Happiness Winifred, 30, for refusing to have sex with him

Man beats girlfriend to death after she refused having sex with him (photos)

Parading the suspect before newsmen today June 30, the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP. Chuks Enwonwu, said that the suspected murderer, Erigga invited Happiness, a mother of three, to his home to spend the night with him on June 21. They got into a heated argument after she refused to have sex with him. He punched her three times. She slumped and died and then he dumped her body inside a well in the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The police boss said men of the Ojoo Police Station began an investigation after one Mr. Agu Benson, a resident of Oritoke Area of Ojoo, Ibadan came to the police station to report that he went to fetch water in the well in his compound on June 25 and discovered a floating body.

When interrogated, Shagbada confessed to the crime but said he “accidentally” killed Happiness.

“On that faithful day of the incident, we were showering together and I asked her the reason she has been denying me of sex but she was raising her voice on me and I slapped her and to my surprise, she slapped me back and I gave her just three blows at the mouth and another one on her neck. Next thing I knew, she fell slumped and died.

When I discovered that she has died, I quickly carried her corpse and threw her inside a well in my compound because I was afraid and I didn’t want people to suspect me that I responsible for her death.

But a few days later, her corpse was discovered by my neighbour who wanted to use the well and he reported the case to the police and I was arrested.

I regret my actions. I don’t have intentions to kill her. She used to be my girlfriend. She had told me that she is a runs girl, that she already had three kids and I said no problem, and I promised to take her as my wife before that misunderstanding came up between both of us,” Erigga said

Items recovered from him include one hand bag, one Andriod Phone, a pair of underwear, a pack of condoms, a key, and slippers.

Igbo statues ‘stolen’ during Nigerian Civil War sold for N85.6 Million by British auctioneer

Igbo statues sold

British auction company, Christie’s, sold two life-sized wooden statues with Nigerian roots for N85.6 million ($238,000) in an online auction on Monday, June 29, 2020.⁣

The statues, labelled “A Couple of Igbo Figures Attributed to The Akwa Master“, were sold to an online bidder on Monday despite controversy surrounding how the company gained possession of them.⁣

A Professor of African and American Diaspora Art, Chika Okeke-Agulu, had launched a spirited campaign over the pass few weeks to stop the sale of the statues; Igbo Alusi figures.⁣

He had argued that the statues were two out of dozens of local artifacts stolen from the southeast region where they were made while the Igbo natives of the region were locked in a deadly civil war with the Nigerian government between 1967 and 1970.⁣

These artworks are stained with the blood of Biafra’s children,” Okeke-Agulu wrote in an Instagram post on June 6.⁣

However, Christie’s said it doesn’t believe the statues were acquired illegally by Jacques Kerchache, the French collector that owned them.⁣
